Haw River Festival in Saxapahaw (Alamance Co.)

This event is kid-friendly.

The Haw River Festival kicks off the "Saturdays in Saxapahaw" summer music series. This festival raises awareness of environmental issues affecting the Haw River. It's held in the charming little rural community and former milltown of Saxapahaw.

The Saxapahaw Music Series & Farmer's Market features great bands all summer long. The Haw River Festival features bands on 3 stages, plus a farmer's market, canoe rides, food trucks and more! The location is just across the road from the Saxapahaw Rivermill. Look for me and my blue chair and blue blanket about 30 to 40 feet straight back from the Haywagon stage, under the trees. I'll have a meetup sign.

There is no fee for the outdoor shows, but a large plastic swan is passed around the crowd for cash contributions. Snack on the farmers’ market goodies, grab some takeout at the Saxapahaw General Store (a gourmet deli/store cleverly disguised as a gas station, just up the street), or bring a picnic dinner (this is not a potluck, so just bring food for yourself). There will be some food trucks on site also. You can bring alcoholic beverages to this venue if you like (please drink responsibly). Bring a blanket or chair. There are typically some kids' activities available on site, including a slip-n-slide and hula hoops. Fun-loving adults have also been known to engage in these activities as well....

This event is crossposted with multiple meetup groups. Sorry, dogs are not allowed at this venue. This meetup is subject to cancellation in the event of adverse weather conditions. Please practice courtesy and update your RSVP if your plans change.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
