I called Beyu Cafe and we are in! Let's meet to try all or some of their three course menu for the Bull City Vegan Challenge. Check out
http://bullcityveganc... for what sounds like a delish menu offering! Description, pictures and prices are featured!
~~~ As always, please practice courtesy and consider your RSVP carefully - you are requested to update your RSVP no less than 24 hours before the event. There is planning involved for the person organizing any meetup and it is unpleasant when people frequently change their RSVP at the last minute - in addition to not being fair to others when an event is full. Let's also be good neighbors to the restaurant. We want them to welcome us back and give us great food and service - this becomes difficult when we say, for example, that we have a party of 12 and 6 people show up. In some cases the restaurant even makes staffing changes to plan for large groups. If you need to change your plans, please practice courtesy and do so as soon as you know, not one day before or day of the event. This last minute change should be reserved for emergency things that pop up. That said, I hope you can make it!
If you are the type of person to take leftovers home, I urge you to bring your own reusable container from home. As veg*ns, we can be examples in the environmental movement as well! ~ Stephanie
    Maybe you caught them on an off night. I found the entree to be quite spicy, just the way I like it. I've been to 4 restaurants on the Vegan Challenge so far and still like Caffe Beyu the best!
    Lisa - I am very salt sensitive and it did not taste salty to me at all. Perhaps you had an it on an off night? And there is no way I could describe the main dish as bland. Here's a review for your reading pleasure. http://comowater-forchocolate.blogspot.com/2010/10/bull-city-vegan-challenge-meal-three.html
    I couldn't eat the gumbo b/c it was not gluten free, but I thought the main dish was amazing! There was nothing bland about it the night we went. The curry sauce and balsamic reductions was like an explosion in my mouth. :) Did you try the mousse? AMAZING!
    What'd y'all think? I went here last night with the family - got the prix frix 3 coarser - thought the gumbo was a little salty and the main dish kinda bland, but damn did they try hard! Now heading to NOSH for brunch this AM..
    Wow! Beyu really set the bar high for the BCVC! All three courses were very tasty, with complex flavors working well together. It was a really solid meal I felt good about spending $25 on. Really hope Beyu keeps some vegan items on the menu so we can eat there more in the future!
    I had a wonderful time meeting the new folks - we had people drive from Raleigh, Greensboro and Siler City!
    Solid thumbs-up experience. The reservation folks apparently didn't let the kitchen folks know that we were coming, so our group wiped out their supply of the special. They substituted the curry for me, and I think I wound up better off in the process (I'm just not a big fan of fennel - so Score!). The whole meal was really flavorful.
    Beyu cafe did a great job with a three course vegan meal except they ran out of the entree. They made the exact number they thought were coming and should have made a few extra. Every course was gourmet and very flavorful and healthy.
    Awesome meetup! We had a great group, wonderful wait staff and chef, and amazing food! It is going to be hard for any other place to beat the awesome entree and vegan mousse!
    The computer won't let me RSVP, but I'll come and fill the last spot. See you there!
    Excellent question! There is often free parking right on street in the evenings. Also, there is a parking garage nearby on Corcoran (take a right off Main St if headed away from the restaurant) that is usually free after 5. I've only paid one time and it was only $2.
    Hey all- I contacted Beyu and they confirmed that the mix grill dish with sweet potatoes and the chocolate mousse are gluten free!! :-) Not the gumbo though. :-( I can't wait for Saturday night!
I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
