Local Camping - Lake Jordan - Crosswinds Campground - Crosspost

Edit - Ok, Veg Meetup peep's! I think I have sorted it out. I hope everyone is coming that said they were so I am not out the cash! : ) I think we have 9 people total at $94, so that comes out to about $10 a person as estimated.

Myself and most of the Veg group will be at Loop C site 7 of the Crosswinds Campground (this is off Farrington Road). The Lady Trailblazers and possibly one Veg tent will be at site 10. Either way, there should be room for everyone!

Please go to this link to get directions - http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/jord/directions.php According to the park website, GPS does not give accurate directions.

Crosswinds Campground: To reach Crosswinds Campground traveling on US 64, turn north onto Farrington Road/SR 1008. This intersection, with two gas stations across from each other, is called Wilsonville. The Crosswinds Campground entrance is .3 of a mile on the right.

See you Saturday!!

end edit!

Hello, Veg meetup peeps!

Wow, I was surprised to find 8 people responded Yes to camping on this date in my recent poll. I hope most of you will actually make it out to this event! This event is designed as a chance for the new camper to camp locally, try out gear, get tips from experienced campers, etc. It is also a terrific time for experienced campers to get out that gear they haven't used since last year, dust it off and check things out. Plus you can help those newbie campers get their feet wet.

I know the weather is dreary now, but I bet Spring will be back by April 9th!

The goal of this trip is to keep it simple and have fun! Please post in your RSVP if you wish to share tent sites, have gear you can share, etc.

This event is being crossposted with the Lady Trailblazers of the Triangle Hiking meetup. It a family friendly event. We are going to keep it very simple - all food is on your own, no potluck (unless you guys really want to do one). We can set up our tents, hang out a bit, get groups together to do a little hiking and then that evening meet back at my campsite after dinner for time around a campfire. I will have some vegan marshmallows to share for toasting or you may bring your own marshmallows/s'mores ingredients. It would also be great if a few people could bring some wood to share for the fire.

I hope this date still works - especially for anyone who needs to increase their comfort level with camping!

~ Stephanie

Even with a few glitches in the weather everyone had a great attitude and it was nice to get to know some new people. I had a great time and I'm looking forward to the next trip.

Thank you Stephanie for organizing a camping trip for the novice campers. I’m pretty sure you made it rain somehow just to test us. I hope we passed the test.

Please let me know if there are questions! And I hope it is clear that we are not at a group camping site - you will need to find an available site after you arrive. Your arrival time may vary, just come when you can!
