Vegan Dinner at Nasher Museum Cafe

Triangle Vegetarian Society president Dilip Barman has been invited to be the guest chef on this night at the Nasher Museum of Art Cafe on Duke University's campus. Let's get together to enjoy a vegan meal amongst the visual arts! (And if you're interested, the museum exhibits are free on Thursdays from 5-9 pm!)

The dishes on the menu will be offered ala carte. Most of the dishes are gluten free, and it's all vegan!

Menu (subject to change)

Starters
Filo Triangles: spinach, potato, mushroom, shallots - $7
Kale Roll-Ups: polenta, artichoke hearts, marinara - $7

Soup
Creamy Carrot Ginger soup: cashews, garlic, chives - $4 cup/$7 bowl
Bowl of Soup & Arugula Salad - $10

Salad
Arugula Salad: toasted walnuts, cherry tomatoes, fresh herbs, lemon juice - $5

Entrees
Macadamia Nut encrusted blackened Tempeh: coconut milk mixed vegetable curry - $15

Lime jerked Seitan: brown rice noodles, shallots, oyster mushrooms, red bell peppers - $14

Roasted Local Vegetable Risotto: spinach, carrot, butternut squash, caramelized fennel - $12

Dessert
Orangey rice pudding - $5
Chocolate baklava - $4
Fresh berry and coconut milk "ice cream" with cacao nibs - $7

Dress is casual. Please note that according to the restaurant's website, a 20% gratuity will be added for parties of 6+. (I suspect they'd be willing to waive this in return for a donated painting.)

As usual, please consider your RSVP carefully, and provide at least 24 hours' notice if you can't make it. We want to give restaurants a good impression of the veg community, and don't want to have a lot of no-shows. Also, if you think you may want to take leftovers home, please consider bringing your own reusable container from home.

    Thank you, Dilip, for planning an exceptional meal. The food was delicious, as always. It was a wonderful evening in a delightful atmosphere with great vegan food and amazing art. I look forward to Dilip being the Nasher's guest chef again very soon.

    Please note that a fixed price meal won't be available. It will all be ala carte. We're not having the raw squash dish, but are having a limed jerk seitan dish. Most of the dishes are gluten free, and it's all vegan!
