The Durham Academy Parents Association, for the 10th year, offers Academy Nights, enrichment courses open to the public, raising funds for need-based financial aid for Durham Academy and the Hill Center.

Tuesday, January 27 ? 7:00 - 9:00 pm ? $25 ? Upper School

This class will address two questions: Are genetically engineered foods safe to eat? Do they harm the earth?s environment? Participants will look at how crop genetic engineering works, review regulations of genetically modified crops, examine evidence for environmental and human health effects and then explore differences in global perceptions and policy. With that background, we will address your questions and discuss whether you think GMO foods should be labeled. DR. MARY EUBANKS holds appointments as Adjunct Professor in Biology and the Program in Education at Duke University and is a Senior Research Fellow in Integrative Biology at the University of Texas-Austin. She has been awarded 17 patents for her research discoveries in corn genetics.
