Announcing a new Meetup for Triangle Vegetarian & Vegan Meetup!

What: Valentine's Day Antidote - Play and dinner at Neo China!

When: Sunday, February 14,[masked]:45 PM

Common Ground Theatre
109 Brenrose Cir
Durham, NC 27705

No Valentine this year? Valentine not in town? Or would you (and even your Valentine) just like to boycott the overly commercial options for going out and say 'bah humbug' to the fake holiday? Let's go out for some local theatre and a veg meal! We did this last year and it was a lot of fun!

The play starts at 2. You need to be there by 1:45. You should reserve your ticket online or by phone in advance (details below) - this is a small theatre that usually sells out. Seating is first come, first seated. Last time we got there early and managed to get great seats all together. This is a small black box theatre - nothing fancy. I have enjoyed all the performances I've seen there so far.

After the play we'll head over to Neo China (about 15 mins away) for an early dinner - they treated us very well last time and have a variety of veg options.

If you are the type of person to take leftovers home, I urge you to bring your own reusable container from home. As veg*ns, we can be examples in the environmental movement as well!

Also, if you need to change your plans, please practice courtesy and do so as soon as you know, not one day before or day of the event. A last minute change should be reserved for rare situations. Please post when you have reserved your ticket. Reserving your ticket in advance is required for the group - so we know we can all get in. : )

Bare Theatre?s presents: Boys and Girls: Three short plays by contemporary playwrights

Bare Theatre presents its first original one-act series. Boys and Girls: Three short plays by contemporary playwrights features three one-act plays by up and coming playwrights from North Carolina and New York.

Burying Barbie, by New York-based playwright Christopher Dimond blends dark humor and touching sadness in the story of a morbid seven-year-old and her imaginary friend. Toys get killed.

boygirlboygirl comes from another NY-based writer Jason Williamson, who was raised in Rocky Mount, NC and got his undergrad degree from UNC-Greensboro. Williamson uses flowing, poetic language to spin a psychological tale of a young man and his obsession with a girl he does not know.

Ask Him in the Morning is written by Bare Theatre?s Resident Director Carmen-maria Mandley. This first-person show-within-a-show details the life and sins of Gunnar Clarence Carpenter, a construct of Mandley?s, who blurs the lines between criminal and victim.

Managing Director G. Todd Buker, who originally wrote and produced for Greensboro-based American Distractions, directs the first two plays. Carmen-maria Mandley directs her own work, with fight choreography by Heather J. Hackford assisted by Jason Bailey.

This production contains strong language, violence, and adult subject matter.
