I really dislike the words trichotillomania and trichotillomaniac. Have you ever
tried to explain these words? The main reason I do not like them is because when I use
them people usually respond with that confused tilted-dog-head look.
It is an antiquated term. I just cut to the chase and say I pull my hair. If I was
not familiar with these words, I would probably have some kind of negative reaction to them.
I mean any word with -maniac in it does not exactly facilitate understanding.
