No More Pipelines: Sacred Trust Initiative

Our next guest speaker is Carleen Thomas, Project Manager – Intergovernmental Relations for the Sacred Trust Initiative of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN)!

The Sacred Trust Initiative ( was given form and mandate in April 2012 from the TWN community to stop Kinder Morgan’s proposed Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

Ms. Thomas was seconded from her Manager of Education position in September 2012 to work with the Sacred Trust Initiative; she has served 16 years as an elected Council Member for her Nation, holding the Community Development portfolio. She has been directed to represent TWN on the Aboriginal Advisory Boards for both SFU and Cap U; and worked as a District Aboriginal Education Resource teacher in Burnaby and North Vancouver School districts, upon completing her BEd in 2003. Ms. Thomas is the proud mother of three and grandmother of four beautiful grand-daughters.

Everyone is welcome. Feel free to join the discussion, meet like-minded folks and/or re-connect with old friends.

Just a reminder that this is a fragrance-free meet-up.

We look forward to seeing you!

Great meetup. The location was pretty good as well considering we had that sliding door to cut down on noise. Really enjoyed hearing from the speaker!

To let all of attending actually hear all the speaker , (and discussion) has to offer, let's ensure we get the room.

I am honored a guest speaker of such caliber will be visiting us! Looking forward to it; especially learning about the kinder-morgan pipeline through the eyes of the First Nations
