SUPER GEEK MOVIE: Joss Whedon's - Much Ado About Nothing (Discount Tickets)

Much Ado About Nothing - 7:00PM - The Carolina Theatre - Durham

Starring: Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Clark Gregg, Reed Diamond, Fran Kranz, Nathan Fillion

Director: Josh Whedon

Length: 1 hour 49 mins

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Discounted Ticket:  $7.00 (tell box office you are with meetup)

Josh Whedon is at it again, this time bringing along some Buffy/Angel/Firefly friends and putting one of William Shakepeare's most famous romantic comedies on its ear. Set in modern day and shot in twelve days with the original play dialog, this is sure to be an entertaining romp.

We will be seeing the 7:00PM movie and I will meet everyone in the lobby outside Fletcher theater with my big pink scarf not later than 6:45PM so we can go in and get seats together at that time. I have also cross posted this with the Triangle Geeks Meetup, since they like this stuff too!

And because the Carolina Theatre is so awesome, they have offered our group discounted tickets of $7.00 for this performance.  When you buy your ticket, tell the box office staff you are with Meetup to get the discounted ticket price.

If you have never been to The Carolina Theatre before, here is a link for directions and parking information.

Shakespeare's classic comedy is given a contemporary spin in Joss Whedon's film, Much Ado About Nothing. Shot in just 12 days (and using the original text), the story of sparring lovers Beatrice and Benedick offers a dark, sexy and occasionally absurd view of the intricate game that is love.

I loved it. I am generally a bit skeptical about contemporizing Shakespeare, but this was well done with Joss Whedon's touches all over it. It was cleaver in its interpretation of the original play dialog and the actors did a nice job. If you like Shakespeare's comedies, this is a unique new interpretation that is fun, light-hearted and sometimes down right silly (and that is what Shakespeare's comedies are designed to be.) :)

Hi everyone - Much Ado About Nothing starts at 7:00PM on Friday and The Carolina Theatre has graciously offered us a discounted ticket rate of $7.00 to see this film. Just tell the box office staff you are with "Meetup" when you buy your ticket to get the discounted ticket rate. I will be outside Fletcher theater (the big theater downstairs) in the lobby with my big pink scarf on until 6:45PM and at that time we will go in and get seats. We have over 50 folks attending with the Geeks and the Triangle Indie Film Meetup group (everyone is very nice). I would love to chat with folks in the lobby afterwards about what they thought of the film. See you Friday!

I really enjoyed the Kenneth Branagh one years ago so hope Josh Whedon does it justice.

Hmmm. Looks like Nathan is only a somewhat supporting player from the preview. Forget Shakespeare -- just bring back Firefly, for Pete's Sake.
