Directions have gone out to everyone signed up with a spot as of Friday at 5:00PM. If you get a spot after that time, please email Julie and request directions.
It is the holiday season, so come and celebrate the holiday of your choice and have fun playing games with the Geeks.
For this game night we will also be playing a special game of a "White Elephant" Gift Exchange! How that works is you wrap a gift (without your name on it) and bring it with you. Everyone will take turns choosing a gift (and unwrapping it) or stealing a gift that has already been unwrapped.
You can bring anything you would like for your gift (generally $10 or less if purchasing) or you can bring something you got last year and hated and want to get rid of. You can aim for the tackiest gift, the most sought after gift, the funniest gift, the cheapest gift, the criteria is up to you. This event is a lot of fun and generates lots of laughs!
Come join your friends for a night of games, food, and good company at Julie's house.
How Game Night Works:
Everyone brings their favorite games to play with others. I do have an eclectic collection of 60+ games from old school to European Strategy to social/party games. Feel free to bring any games you'd like to play with others. We love to learn new games!
I will provide basic sodas and ask that everyone bring a snack to share. BYOB.
I will send everyone signed up the directions in an email the day before.
We are also asking everyone to donate $1 to cover meetup costs and snack/beverage costs. Your donations go toward meetup fees, and the costs of drinks/sodas/etc. as well as prizes. So your donations will come back to you.
2 Strike Attendance Policy
Since many of our events fill up and have waiting lists, we enforce a “Two Strike” attendance policy. If you are a “No Show” or a “Late Drop” (dropping less than 6 hours before an event) it will count as a strike. After two strikes you are subject to removal from the group. So please only sign up for events that you know you can attend and update your RSVPs in a timely fashion if your plans change.
How You Can Help:
-- Bring your games. Don't assume someone else will bring your favorite game.
-- Bring a snack to share
-- Clean up all cups, plates, napkins, messes, etc. before you leave
-- Help put away all folding chairs and tables, cups and napkins etc., before you leave.
Frequently Asked Questions about Geek Game Nights:
Q: I want to play game X. Can we play game X?
A: Sure! Well, maybe. There is no fixed plan about what games will be played and no schedule. It's up to you to pull a group of people together to play a game.
Q: What if I don't know how to play the games?
A: No problem! This is an opportunity for you to learn games that you haven't played before. Everyone comes with the understanding that some people have not played certain games before and will be taught how to play.
Q: Can I bring a guest?
A: Sure. If there is room, just add them as a guest when you RSVP. We limit members to one guest since members have priority in attending.
Q: I'm Allergic to cats/dogs/ferrets/etc. Do you have any of theses?
A: Yes, I have two cats that may or may not choose to attend the event. I do a pretty good job of defuzzing before the events, but be forewarned if you have allergies.
Q: Can I smoke?
A: No smoking in the house. You can smoke on the patio outside. If you're trying to quit, you're not allowed to smoke anywhere. :-)
Q: Where do you live?
A: In what is referred to as N.W. Cary, which is no where near actual Cary proper (think NW Morrisville where Hwy 55 and 540 meet). Directions to Julie's place will be mailed to everyone who RSVPs the day before the event.
Q: Can I bring my kids?
A: This is an adult only event. You must be 21 to attend.
