Hey Whovians!  HEADS-UP!!

Here is a special event happening in theaters all over the US on Nov 25th.

TICKETS GO ON SALE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25TH at 9:00AM at the link above.

In the Triangle they are showing it at three Regal theaters:  Brier Creek, North Hills and Crossroads in Cary.

Tickets are $15.

Details:
The 75-minute special in 3D plus bonus behind-the-scenes content exclusive to theaters.

NCM Fathom Events and BBC AMERICA are thrilled to celebrate 50 years of the world’s longest-running Sci-Fi series Doctor Who with an explosive RealD 3D presentation of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special: The Day of the Doctor. This extraordinary one-night event will take place on Monday, November 25 at 7:30pm (local time) in select cinemas nationwide and includes behind-the-scenes bonus content exclusive to theaters!

Shot in 3D, The Day of the Doctor stars Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman with Billie Piper and John Hurt. The action packed adventure reveals that the Doctor has a dangerous past. And he’s coming back!

I am planning to trying to get a ticket to see it at Brier Creek on the 25th.

So if you are interested and want to join me, I would buy tickets at 900AM on Friday, Oct 25th.

If Brier Creek sells out, you might want to try the other two theater options in the area.

We will meet out front NO LATER THAN 6:45PM to go in and get seats (mostly since I don't want to be in the front row :).  I will update the event with more details if/when they become available.

As with all geek events, we request a $1 donation to cover meetup fees, snacks and prizes for future events.

2 Strike Attendance Policy
Since many of our events fill up and have waiting lists, we enforce a “Two Strike” attendance policy. If you are a “No Show” or a “Late Drop” (dropping less than 6 hours before an event) it will count as a strike. After two strikes you are subject to removal from the group. So please only sign up for events that you know you can attend and update your RSVPs in a timely fashion if your plans change.

We will be attending with friends, but would be interested in going out afterwards with this group if there are plans.

If you are a Doctor Who fan and haven't been out to the Google homepage today, you should go immediately. :)

Hey Whovians. They have released a cool mini-episode prequel to The Day of the Doctor called Night of the Doctor. Check it out here: http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2013/11/watch-new-doctor-mini-episode-night-doctor/

Here is another good article that breaks down some of the implications of what is seen in The Night of the Doctor. For folks who started watching the series with the reboot, this will give you some background from the old series that us old timers have seen as potentially ignoring the old, established rules or being a time lord, etc. in the new series. http://www.bbcamerica...

Wait, so are tickets $1 or $15? Do we have to pay one or the other or both?

    November 1, 2013

    • mark h.

The $1 is to support the cost of the meetup group.

      November 1, 2013

    • Julie

Mark and Chris are correct. To have a meetup group I have to pay meetup. The $1 each member donated for participating in an event helps me pay that bill (and is greatly appreciated).

They appear to be opening additional showings when they sell out. North Hills now has a second listing and Brier Creek is still listed as having tickets.

      In case anyone is interested.
The Doctor Who meetup group is having a little marathon event this weekend at different members' houses. Last night was a Donna-centric trio. Tonight (Wake Forest) and tomorrow night (Raleigh) are two different mini-marathons from the rebooted series.

Wish I could go! Why does the 50th anniversary have to be in the middle of my final exams?!?

    October 24, 2013

    • Chris K. J.

Your final exams are still in progress at 7.30pm? :-P If it's just a matter of studying...surely you can spare a couple of hours? ;-)

      October 25, 2013

    • Sarah

Nah, I'm already sparing that Saturday to go to a DW 50th party!

Going in Cary - anyone else?

    October 25, 2013

  • Chris K. J.

Brier Creek sales are open now! Get your tickets pronto. :-)

    October 25, 2013

  • Chris K. J.

Crossroads is now showing. Still no Brier Creek.

    October 25, 2013

  • Julie

Apparently the Brier Creek location is a little slow on the draw of getting on Fandango this morning, since I am only seeing the North Hills location listed. The plus side is I now know the ticket price will be $15.

    October 25, 2013

    • Chris K. J.

The North Hills location is now sold out. Still none of the other 3 Triangle locations are listed. At this rate, this meetup is going to be a non-event. ;-)

      October 25, 2013

    • Chris K. J.

I did successfully get a non-3D ticket at the North Hills location. So if the other locations don't show up, I'll still have something to attend. Maybe others here can do the same thing....

      October 25, 2013

  • Chris K. J.

It's also being shown at Southpoint, for people who live too far north for the North Hills and Crossroads locations.

    This is freaking fantastic!
