Geek Game Night - February 2014 (Friday Night)

Directions have been emailed to everyone signed up to attend as of 5:45PM on Thursday.  If you get a spot after that time you will need to email Julie and request directions.

Come join your friends for a night of games, food, and good company at Julie's house.

NOTE:  This is a FRIDAY NIGHT GAME NIGHT this month.

How It Works:
Everyone brings their favorite games to play with others. I do have an eclectic collection of 60+ games from old school to European Strategy to social/party games. Feel free to bring any games you'd like to play with others. We love to learn new games!

I will provide basic sodas and ask that everyone bring a snack to share. BYOB.

I will send everyone signed up the directions in an email the day before.

We also ask everyone to put $1 in the jar per person attending to help cover fees and event supply costs.

2 Strike Attendance Policy
Since many of our events fill up and have waiting lists, we enforce a “Two Strike” attendance policy. If you are a “No Show” or a “Late Drop” (dropping less than 6 hours before an event) it will count as a strike. After two strikes you are subject to removal from the group. So please only sign up for events that you know you can attend and update your RSVPs in a timely fashion if your plans change.

How You Can Help:
-- Bring your games. Don't assume someone else will bring your favorite game.
-- Bring a snack to share
-- Clean up all cups, plates, napkins, messes, etc. before you leave
-- Help put away all folding chairs and tables, cups and napkins etc., before you leave.

Frequently Asked Questions about Geek Game Nights:

Q: I want to play game X. Can we play game X?
A: Sure! Well, maybe. There is no fixed plan about what games will be played and no schedule. It's up to you to pull a group of people together to play a game.

Q: What if I don't know how to play the games?
A: No problem! This is an opportunity for you to learn games that you haven't played before. Everyone comes with the understanding that some people have not played certain games before and will be taught how to play if possible.

Q: Can I bring a guest?
A:  Sure. If there is room, just add them as a guest when you RSVP.  We limit members to one guest since members have priority in attending.

Q: I'm Allergic to cats/dogs/ferrets/etc. Do you have any of theses?
A: Yes, I have two cats that may or may not choose to attend the event. I do a pretty good job of defuzzing before the events, but be forewarned if you have allergies.

Q: Can I smoke?
A: No smoking in the house. You can smoke outside. If you're trying to quit, you're not allowed to smoke anywhere. :-)

Q: Where do you live?
A: In what is referred to as N.W. Cary, which is no where near actual Cary proper (think NW Morrisville where Hwy 55 and 540 meet). Directions to Julie's place will be mailed to everyone who RSVPs the day before the event.

Q: Can I bring my kids?
A: This an adult only event. You must be 21 to attend.

Hi All! I hate to cancel, but I've hurt my neck to the point I can't really move it much so I don't think I'd be any fun tonight. I'm already signed up for March game night and am looking forward to that!

Hey everyone - I completely forgot that I have tickets to go to a special event the same night I scheduled game night. So I am going to move this event back one day to Friday night, Feb 21. at 7:00. Anyone signed up for the Sat event is still signed up for the new date, but please drop if your schedule will not let you attend. As a consolation, I am letting you guys know that I have scheduled the March game night for Sat. March 15th and is available on the schedule now for sign up. I won't announce it to the group for another week, so sign up now if you want to attend. Sorry for any inconvenience and see you at game night!

Much as I would like to go, my son has a fencing meet that day and I have no idea when he will be done.

Would you happen to own Cards Against Humanity?

    January 8, 2014

    • Julie

The rule of thumb around Crimes Against Humanity is know your audience. You should get to know some members and then decide. We do have Apples to Apples and Bubble Talk in house.
