Before Midnight

Before Midnight is the sequel film to Before Sunrise (1995) and Before Sunset (2004).

Nine years after the conclusion of Before Sunset, Jesse and Celine live in Paris as a couple, parents to twin girls conceived when they got together. Jesse is also struggling to maintain his relationship with his teenage son, Hank, who lives in Chicago with Jesse's (now) ex-wife and who, after spending the summer with Jesse and Celine on a Greek island, is being dropped off at the airport to fly home. Jesse has continued to find success as a novelist, while Celine is at a career crossroads, considering a job in government.

Rialto accepts CASH ONLY. Tickets are $8.50.

The film starts at 7:00 pm. Let's gather in the lobby 15-20 mins beforehand. Afterwards, we can walk over to Lilly's Pizza for conversation.

I enjoyed the movie (the second one was my favorite, too) and it definitely made me want to take off for Greece immediately! It was painful to watch the arguing, but for you romantics, let's not forget that they made up in the end. Jesse came off as the good guy in that marriage. Shawna, I think I'll give one of Ethan Hawke's books a go. I'd like to see if he's a better actor or writer.

I've only read, "The Hottest State". And then I watched the film version, bad idea, ha (like Alison mentioned last night). I remember the main character did not look anything like she was described in the book or at least not what I had perceived.

The movie was good and realistic. However, I didn't like it as well as the first two. They should have stopped at Before Sunset and kept the romance. I have no interest in watching a married couple argue for half of a film and they sure did! The location shots in Greece were beautiful. Overall, I liked the second film best.

In complete agreement here regarding the 1st 2 with the 2nd being my fav as well. Not sure why they felt they needed this piece except that it does mirror real life very well..

Sorry I was not able to join in for the discussions after but Kevin was my ride and he needed to head out. I will be curious as to what everyone thought. I do know that I felt that having seen the 1st 2 prequels had to have made a difference in my overall impression of the movie as it helped me to understand the underlying tone of their relationship and where it would lead...but I am also a romantic so I imagine my opinion is useless..

Shawna- stating this as someone who is utterly areligious- thanks and god bless ya<sigh>. If this was any other film, say Stories We Tell, etc.. I would take you up on it. I'll just wait for DVD on this one. No big loss on the movie, but pls post a comment for me afterwards- you have a great radar on this stuff. :)

Any chance we could get together at someone's hom in advance for the first two films? I haven't seen them. I'd do it but I have no space.
