We did this event last year and lots of folks came out for some fun. So let's support a really phenomenal local independent theater company. For those of you who might not have heard of Forest Theater, it is a lovely outdoor amphitheater in the middle of UNC campus that does live performances. So let's go and see the 14th annual summer pageant of the Paperhand Puppet Intervention (which includes Giant puppets, masks, stilts and live music): Invisible Earth
(pictures from previous performances)
"Paperhand Puppet Intervention proudly presents it's 14th annual summer spectacle:
NOTE: THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL KIDDY PUPPET SHOW BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION! IT IS TRULY A FASCINATING VISUAL EXPERIENCE WITH SOME PUPPETS LITERALLY 2 STORIES HIGH!!
Paperhand Puppet Intervention is a local theater company out of Saxapahaw that does truly astoundingly visual performances with all original content, scenery, score and HUGE puppets. You may have seen them at events like Festival on the Eno and local parades. The performances are also at the very impressive outdoor Forest Theater on UNC campus that looks a bit like a medieval fort.
You can go here to see pictures from some of their previous shows.
Tickets are available only at the performance. $12 adults, $8 for kids 3-12, 2 and under free. All shows start at 7:00 with a different pre-show each night at 6:20. This is a family friendly event, so children, friends, and family are welcome to attend and this event is cross posted with the Chapel Hill - Durham Hikers and Triangle Geeks Meetups. I will be there by 6:00 and try to reserve us some rows so look for signs at the end of rows.
Bring something soft to sit on since this is an outdoor stone amphitheater (not a chair - it blocks the view). Your beehind will thank me. :D
A paradoxical pageant of hope, impending doom and planetary possibilities. The Monkeys of the Modern World, explore the workings of the world and ask; What is our nature? Are we creators or buffoons? Are we evolving? The great unfolding mystery of the Invisible Earth is upon us! Featuring the Dance of Domestication and a cast of goats, chickens, pigs and trilobites. New this year, music created by critically acclaimed composer Ari Picker of Lost in the Trees and an all new Paperhand band. Join us for an evening of exploration, enchantment, and ancient creatures!
The show runs approximately an hour and a half with no intermission. Paperhand rain policy is posted on this page: http://paperhand.org/?page_id=378
