The Grand Budapest Hotel (Second chance to see)

  • Mar 24, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • Chelsea Theatre

Wes Anderson is one of those directors with a distinctive, unmistakable style. His newest, The Grand Budapest Hotel, recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune -- all against the backdrop of a suddenly and dramatically changing continent.

Showtime is 6:50, so I set the start time for the event to give people time to get their tickets and visit a bit. If it's nice let's gather outside the lobby. The movie's not long, so hope we can find a place open for refreshments after the film. Look forward to seeing you there!

I found the movie engaging and visually intriguing. Nice fantasy escape and actually kept me guessing sometimes on what would happen next which was an added plus. Dinner afterward was tasty with lively conversation.

Loved the movie. Sorry now I did not get to see it in Raleigh so that I could have seen it again last night! Missed the discussion after the movie; maybe some other time.
Thanks Mark. It was so good to see you again.

I have usually enjoyed Anderson's films but his latest was over the top for its breathtaking scenery, all star cast and well constructed interlocking time periods.A very worthwhile film on the grand scale.Stays with you after you've seen it

Looks like it's going to be cold, so let's gather inside the lobby. After the movie, let's try to reconvene in the lobby and think about a late dinner or drinks or (at least) compare opinions on the movie.

If you're new to the Chelsea, know that it only takes cash.

I won't be joining since I saw the preview last night at a private screening. I know there is a lot of hype about this movie, but quite frankly I was disappointed. As folks filtered out last night, I seemed to hear a lot of disappointed comments as well. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it.
