The Artist - Chelsea Theater - Chapel Hill

Being a HUGE silent film fan, I have been waiting for this film to arrive!  With Oscar buzz, 6 Golden Globe nominations and a fascinating premise, let's go and see The Artist.

We are seeing the 7:15PM show and I will meet everyone in the lobby at 7:00PM in my big pink scarf.

Tuesday are are Super Tuesdays where all movie are $1.00 off.

Synopsis:
(Rated PG-13, 100 min.) Hollywood 1927. George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is a silent movie superstar. The advent of the talkies will sound the death knell for his career and see him fall into oblivion. For young extra Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo), it seems the sky's the limit - major movie stardom awaits. The Artist tells the story of their interlinked destinies. Winner of the prize for Best Actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, Michel Hazanavicius’ THE ARTIST is a heartfelt and entertaining valentine to classic American cinema. Mixing comedy, romance and melodrama to tell a story set at an epochal moment in movie history, THE ARTIST is itself an example of the form it celebrates: a black-and-white silent film that relies on images, actors and music to weave its singular spell.

The seats were marked for the meetup which was good, but there was no gathering to discuss the movie afterwards.

Awesome film. I highly recommend it. Unlike any film I've seen. A true Artistic achievement.

Hey guys - Just a quick reminder about how Meetup.com works. If you post a comment for an event (at the bottom of the event page), it emails everyone who is signed up for the event (even those who said no). I appreciate folks letting me know they had to drop out, but if you post that note in your RSVP comment instead, the organizer will still see it and it won't email everyone. Little fun fact for the day. See everyone this evening!

Hey everyone - The Artist will start at 7:15PM on Tuesday night, so I changed the meet time to 7:00 to give everyone some extra time to get there. Also, on Tuesdays movies are $1.00 less, so the cost will be $7.50. A reminder the Chelsea does not take credit/debit card, only cash and checks. There is a cash points machine in the shopping center parking lot if you need one. See you Tuesday!
