Durham’s hugely popular, Strange Beauty Film Festival, returns for another helping of imaginative and striking short films from around the world, including animation, documentary, fiction, experimental, and the wholly unclassifiable. Marvel at the everyday beauty and strangeness that surrounds us. Now in its fourth year at Durham's Manbites Dog Theater. Look for the final schedule to be posted HERE by January 15, 2013.

The film festival runs from Jan 24 - 26 featuring 4 program blocks. I have selected the Saturday afternoon Block 3 which begins at 3:15 pm (running time approx 2 hours).  Let’s meet 20 – 30 minutes beforehand to pick up our tickets and find seats.

Tickets are $12 and should be purchased in advance, as availability is not guaranteed the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased ONLINE with $1 service fee. Phone sales (with no added fee) begin January 1st at 919.682.3343.

Parking is available across Foster Street in the large lot next to the Central Park School for Children and the smaller lot on the northeast corner of Foster and Geer. If the lots are full, drive back to Geer Street and take a right. On street parking and various small lots are available on Geer.

Afterwards, let’s head over to Geer St. Garden for food, drink, and conversation.

Almost all were visually interesting or entertaining, 3 favs were top notch fun even if those were right together, a few others very good; and, a good way to spend a frigid, frozen, dreary Sat. afternoon!

I live in Raleigh, and I haven't yet checked the roads. If okay, I'll be there.

An update from the festival organizer Jim Haverkamp regarding possible weather issues and ticket purchasing:

Thanks so much for getting a group together for the show! That's terrific.

We will probably NOT postpone or cancel due to weather, but if anything happens, we'll definitely announce via our Facebook page, the Strange Beauty web site, the Manbites Dog web site, and the SB Twitter account. There are links in the left hand column of our web site:

The Saturday afternoon show may sell out by Saturday, but folks can try it by coming to the theater by 2:15 when the doors open at 2:15, and it's first come, first served at that point.

You can order tickets online right now here:

Or, to save the service charge, you call the Box Office at[masked] or leave your number, and they'll call you back and take a credit card over the phone.
