The Triangle Indie Film Meetup Group Message Board › Durham Cinematheque presents "Double Screen Mix-Up" - Aug 19th - D
Durham Cinematheque will present "Double Screen Mix-Up" this Friday, August 19 in Durham Central Park as part of the "Movies in the Park" series. This is an experimental show and it should be fun. Show starts at 8:30, admission is free and donations are welcome.
Are two screens better than one? In this case, "unrelated" images (and soundtracks) are presented side-by-side, and although it might be baffling, WE HOPE YOU WILL BE DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINED. Scraps of Westerns are combined with soundtracks from melodramas, and gladiators get paired with crazy dance numbers. While many Durham Cinematheque shows draw from educational and industrial films, this one is comprised mostly of "real movies," fiction feature films. This does not happen often, so enjoy it while you can.
Do you like things very clear and easy to understand? You might not like this show. Truly manic multi-taskers should bring their laptops. Old fashioned multi-taskers should bring a novel and a flashlight. Anyone who needs to focus on one thing should stay at home. It's on two screens at one time, so is it two shows at once or simply one show ruined by another? Don't listen to the experts, come and see and decide for yourself.
All "Movies in the Park" shows are outdoors, bring your own blanket or chair. In case of rain this show will be presented under the pavilion.
"Double Screen Mix-Up" is sponsored by Vaguely Reminiscent on Ninth Street. As usual, you might vaguely remember some of these movies!
