Sacred Nature Journey #2: Desert Wildflowers

Join sacred nature guide Alyson Greene for an enchanting afternoon in the desert.

You are invited to the second of three monthly nature journey adventures. We will go on a gentle walk through the saguaro forest, experience guided nature meditations, learn some fascinating natural history, and then dive deeply into the sacred nature of our desert earth by way of the shamanic drum journey.

On March 9, we will honor and celebrate our desert's beautiful wildflowers, as we bask in their loveliness and hear stories of the magical and medicinal properties of our spring flower friends. Come relax, recharge, and by energized by springtime in the Sonoran desert. Ahhh.

JOIN US TO:

. . . Enjoy a gentle guided walk through the saguaro forest

. . . Experience guided nature meditations, including the magical art of nature journaling

. . . Learn some fascinating natural history about your Sonoran desert home

. . . Celebrate the beauty and magical qualities of our spring Sonoran wildflowers

. . . Experience a shamanic drum journey as you dive deeply into the sacred nature of earth

TO BRING: sunhat, sunblock, water, a snack, colored pencils, pencil, & an unlined journal. (NOTE: a simple journal or drawing pad work well. If you want to purchase a new one, Antigone Books on 4th Avenue has an excellent selection of blank journals to inspire you. Alyson will also provide paper.)

MAY I BRING MY CHILD? These walks are appropriate for well behaved, contemplative children. While the activities can be enjoyed by all ages, this will be primarily a quiet, meditative experience for all. Feel free to email me (through Meetup) if you have specific questions.

NATURE JOURNAL? As part of our nature meditation experience, Alyson will introduce you to the wonder and delight of the nature journal, a special way to experience the natural world. We will enhance our perceptions and insights through simple techniques used through the ages by naturalists, poets, and visual artists. NOTE: No previous visual or verbal artistic skills are required. Part of the magic of the nature journal is that it records your own in-the-moment experiences as a process, a kind of flowing visual mediation in action.

Thank you everyone for a beautiful afternoon. I feel the plants appreciated our presence . . . especially the little, teeny tiny white flowers. :)

Alright friends, I've decided to move the walk to Sunday, March 10. The weather forecast whispers promises of calm, rainless skies & warmer temperatures (although still a nurturing, protecting partial cloud cover)--and all right after our rains have come and nourished the desert! Sunday is going to be the perfect afternoon to celebrate sacred nature time in the desert. So please do join us on Sunday, March 10 at 2:30 pm. p.s. I'm so sorry, Bill, that you won't be able to join us this time. It was lovely having you as part of the journey in February. I hope you will be able to make to to our April 7 walk or April 19-21 retreat!

I agree with Bill. The earth and all the plant people will be rejoicing in the rain, yes! :) However, I am considering moving the walk to Sunday, March 10, so that we have calmer weather--post rain. How many of you could still attend if we move the walk to 2:30 pm on Sunday?

I hope this is not cancelled if it rains. The earth and all the plant people will be rejoicing in the rain!

Alyson, May not make it...if rain comes, I can't cross all the washes to get to the hwy from Arivaca.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
