Third Gender People, Two Spirits, Blended Ones. You are called by the Spirit World to be a bridge!
Ones called to the Shamanic path are humans who are able to access the worlds. They are called by the Spirit World to be bridges between realities, and balance there to access helpful knowledge for the Tribe.
In the past this has meant that the Shamana her/himself often blended between the worlds of female/male and masculine/feminine in their societal gender roles. For people who are reading this, those gender roles are in the process of blending for everyone, now more than in the past. Still, those who are called to shamanize today (people are still called to be this Spirit Bridge) are often somehow 'in between' the polarities of masculine and feminine energies, whether called "the Third Sex" or "Two Spirit" by different cultures, whether considered "gay" or "bi" or "straight" by self and/or society (one’s sex, sexuality and gender are not the same), there is a whole complex world of the Blended Spirit that is important for those called by the Spirit World to shamanize and be a healing energy for their People.
The focus of this circle is to use the shamanic journey to reconnect with personal and ancestral Spirit Guides who have been denied, sent away or forgotten over time. For anyone called by Spirit to be a Bridge, you must have all your available Guides present with you in order to be able to fully live your Soul's purpose. Often there has been trauma associated with having, and setting aside, this Power, and your Guides can help you mend old wounds (of yours, and your lineage of Healers) and remember your important lineage of Healing. The first journey of this circle will be to connect with a Guide who is needed now.
Also a part of this circle involves the concept of the Dagara People in Africa, as shared by Malidoma Some', that Blended Spirit People are "GateKeepers", an essential and important job that keeps the energies of Earth in balance. "In Dagara cosmology, geography is not only physical, but an energetic existence encompassing other realities crucial to the spiritual health of the individual and the community, explained Som. Entrance to these worlds is facilitated by the gatekeeper, who is born with the ability to participate in a wider web of consciousness." The second journey will be to learn more about each participant's "Gate" they are destined to tend.
There are many examples of cultural descriptions about their shaman people as 'the third gender'/'two spirit'. There is much consistency, as well as variety, of how this part of one's shamanic calling can manifest itself in a person's life.
This circle is open to anyone who feels they are a Blended Spirit Person, and who feel called to the path of the Spiritual Helper. You will use the shamanic journey to request reconnection with those Guides who are waiting to be with you now, to help you and share their powers with you for your purpose in this life. The drumbeats will take each person where they need to go to learn more about their personal relationship with their spirits within. Sharing is available, yet not mandatory. This circle is open to people with all levels of shamanic experience, yet please no 'observers'. All who attend are participants in their own personal experience.
There has been much judgement and persecution of shamanic people considered to be "third gender", so we will open the circle by honoring all wise people of the past who have not able to be their full selves and play their important roles (see what Malidoma Some says about this), due to imposed religious restrictions and limiting beliefs.
As in all ISA circles, what is said in this circle stays in this circle. If you do not feel that you want to rsvp, you can email me, or just arrive.
Your host is Quynn, shamanic practitioner and called "Oolah"- One Who Balances- by her Spirit World. Quynn will share aspects of her story in the circle, including a story of her guide Two Feathers Strong. For more information about Quynn, go to www.quynn.com .
