Sunset Circle at Gates Pass - Celebrating Mountains

Join sacred nature guide Alyson Greene for an enchanting evening adventure in our mountains, up at Gates Pass.

We will gather at the Gates Pass Scenic Overlook (in the large parking lot just east of the crest of the pass). From there we will begin a 10-minute walk out to a gorgeous overlook area that is perfect for watching the sunset and the early stars.

We will honor and celebrate the wisdom of our Tucson Mountains through a magical evening of shamanic drum journeying and with the reading of mountain prayer poems. While we journey, perhaps some mountain poetry will come to you!

What messages do the spirits of the Mountains have for you? Join us for this evening sunset journey circle and find out!

TO BRING: Bring water and something small to sit on (such as a yoga mat); chairs are not recommended because the trail is on uneven ground, and there is a very small amount of elevation gain (over rocky ground). We will be walking for only about 10 minutes each direction, but the ground is uneven, and we will be stepping up over some rocks. IMPORTANT: Wear good, closed-toe walking or hiking shoes. You may want to bring a headlamp or flashlight for the walk out. (We will walk together slowly with care.)

NOTE: There are bathroom facilities at the parking area.

This circle is offered by spirit-guided donation. Proceeds support the Institute for the Shamanic Arts and allow these circles to continue. Thank you for your generosity.

I had the same trouble as Ergon, I had four people with me as well and ended up near Mt. Brown looked for two hours and couldn't find it :(. Wasn't in the cards I guess. Still wish I could have gone.

Hi Rob, I'm so sorry that you missed it & got lost! I think you and Ergon must have gone to the pullout just west of the crest of Gates Pass, instead of the pullout just east of the pass (as was in the directions). As I mentioned above, though, the next time we do a nature circle, I will send out an email with my cell # in case folks got lost. I hope you'll try again . . . June 14 is BAT NIGHT Adventure Journey. It will be great to circle with you again! :)

We were in two cars. We checked out a few locations (one near where I now know was the rendezvous point) and ended up hiking by Mt Brown to see if we could catch up (not knowing this was the wrong location). We will be better acquainted with the area next time and I'm sure the contact # will help too!

I ended up at the overlook near Mt. Brown and went up a trail near there also.

Realized driving back "silence of mountains" wasn't really the words that reflected what I received tonight....it clarified in my mind to
    "non-verbal PRESENCE of mountains."
I equally appreciated hearing the sharing of participants in verbal form....AND what I sensed the Here family was attuned to, supported by and grateful for was the non-verbal PRESENCE that holds all of the sounds. Thank you again for allowing a slightly expanded space for our group and for allowing our non-verbal presence like the mountain's. Gratitude for the beings who made up a nourishing circle tonight.

Your words (and non-verbal presence) were felt/understood last night . . . and your expanded expression of your experience here adds depth. Thank you. <3

Hey, I'm reaching out to you, email me if you are interested in connecting in the future. You were in the dream I just awoke from.

Great time, wonderful prompts, with her stories, and the cards, was great to have something like that that brought our awareness to a point of how we were connected. Thank you Alyson!

I am coming from the state of Indiana to visit and I have been involved with drum circles. Like to meet others in the shamanic world, so I may be attending for the mountain experiences. lol
