4TH AVE / UNIVERSITY PUB CRAWL FOR THE CURE

Ok Boozey Joe, here's the plan:

Saturday July 26th we're having a Pub Crawl. Why? you ask....well, excellent question. At first I just wanted to get a new event posted. Then I thought to myself, "self, why not try to incorporate other meetup groups and make it a big blow out?" And finally I figured, "hey, if we're doing this we might as well make it a good cause. I mean, all this drinking and debauchery needs to be balanced out if I want to keep my KARMA aligned properly...."

So there you have it. From this pile of scattered ideas a Phoenix of revolutionary drinking design has been born....

The 2008 Pub Crawl for the Cure

The details:

We'll meet at Gentle Ben's between 2 and 3. I'm hoping to score some decent deals with the owner so there may be happy hour prices.... we'll see.

From 3 til whenever we hit the streets. There are several good bars on University and when we tire of wrecking those we'll take the trolley over to 4th. I don't really have a timeline or anything so I guess we'll just see what people feel like doing (which may be many different things at once but that's cool).

According to their website the trolley costs $2.50 for a day pass and runs until midnight. Yeah, I know that's early but I've been assured by the college intern sitting next to me that TICET (or whatever that bus is called) runs much later and is free.

Donations: Here's where it gets interesting.... As far as donations go you can do whatever you want. However, I personally plan to pledge by the drink - maybe a couple bucks for every frosty beverage I manage to keep down. Perhaps you'd like to do the same or perhaps you'd like to challenge me some how. Hey, if you want that kind of action bring it on brother! But I warn you: Mess with the Bull and you might get the horns.....

So, getting back to donations.... the money will be going toward Katie Leary's 3 Day Cure Walk team. You can either give directly to them or donate on their website. There is no minimum (or maximum) donation required but like I said earlier KARMA, man.

Well, that's it for now. Look for more details in the coming week. Oh, and if you have any, tell your friends. Everyone is welcome!

Gentle Bens will be offering their happy hour specials to the members of the crawl. Their happy hour is half price appetizers and $3 pints, $3 well drinks and $4 house wine.

The Auld Dubliner has offered happy hour specials from 4 to 6 for everyone. They will be helping to make this event a great success so please thank the staff. Here are their happy hour specials:
$1 off draft pints
$1 off wine and well drinks
$2 off appetizers

The Hut is offering $2.50 pints for their 9 microbrews on tap for all those with wristbands for the crawl. For more information on the charity check out the website:

Oh man. Terrific time. Though initially disappointed that my friends who RSVPed with me didn't show, the camaraderie and the crowd more than made up for it. Big thanks to Joanna, Cleanna, the orange blossom beer, Sarah, improv night for a sore lack of boom-boom, lesbians and their respective gay dudes who are single and won't go out for a night on the town, air hockey, and who can forget some sweaty pasty nipples. Save the Tatas!

This was my first Meetup in a very long time, and I loved it. Thank you for having me.

    Yours,
    Dee

I hope you've all started your training.... Last night I put down about 3 liters of my home made "Orange Blossom Express" IPA and tonight I'm hitting the Shanty. Practice makes perfect....

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
