Come join us for our weekly hike and socializing afterward at Risky Business! This is a great hike for new members. We normally walk up the tram road and enjoy the evening views of the canyon. Most folks turn around after 2 miles, but some hardy folks go the entire 7.4 miles to the end of the tram road and back. Everyone walks at a different pace, and so normally we break up into smaller groups as we are walking. When we get to the 2 mile rock we usually regroup before returning to the visitor center. The group that leaves at 7pm walks a little faster than 2 miles per hour. The group that leaves at 6 walks even faster, nearly 4 miles per hour. Please consider these speeds and your abilities when deciding to join us. If you cannot keep up, be prepared to hike by yourself.
We are hiking in the dark, so please make sure you have a good flashlight. The rattlesnakes are out.
We'll meet at the ramada (covered patio) in front of the Sabino Canyon Visitor's Center at 7 PM, do a quick round of introductions and start hiking shortly thereafter.
Those wishing to walk the entire road should start with the 6:00 PM group if you intend to join the later starters at Risky Business (Kolb/Sunrise). Please indicate on your RSVP if you will be joining the 6:00PM group.
Stroll at your own risk. Be prepared for possible rain.
If no host is present at the appointed time (+5 Mins), begin the stroll anyway.
See you there!
Sure, Kerry, what we need are a string of streetlights strung between high poles like the towers of the SF Bay Bridge. Add to that a fireworks display every mile and you've got a virtual city in Sabino Canyon. After all, what good is the ambience of natural night light anyway? The nighttime is just not bright enough.

Nice little stroll. Surprisingly nice night. Larry, Love the idea of illuminating the whole canyon like the SF BayLights project (http://vimeo.com/61225668
), even if Canyon Lights sounds somewhat like a cigarette brand. How well the syncopated lights will harmonize with the new summertime Friday night fireworks extravaganza is unclear. Still, don't worry, the future looks bright.

Great strolling the Sabino last night and meeting new, interesting people...

Great hike with great people; it would be nice though, if some people kept their flashlights either off some of the time, or aimed downward, instead of shining in your face, or a quarter of a mile ahead, lighting up the whole canyon.

I did enjoy my last experience but really didn't keep up all that well. My husband is 83 so we will both take our time. Still, it's fun meeting with a group, if you don't mind a couple of tag-alongs!
