Beat the Heat at Romero Pools

Join me as I beat the heat with a hike to Romero Pools.  This is a fun intermediate hike with lots of spectacular views.  We will hang out at the pools for a while before returning.   Plan on at least 4 hours from the start of the trailhead until we return.

Many beginners underestimate how tough this hike can be.  Beginners are welcome, but you must be fit.  If you are not sure if you ready for this hike, go ahead and sign up and then talk to me about it.

Type: Out-and-back.
Elevation gain: 1500 ft
Length: Approximately 5.5 miles.

To save on entrance fees to the park ($7 per car), we will meet at the Chase Bank across the street from the entrance to Catalina State Park at 7:45 AM.   We will be departing Chase Bank at 7:50, so please be on time if you want to carpool.  For those going directly to the park, the carpoolers should be at the parking lot at the end of the park road by about 8 AM.

What to bring:

  1. A couple of dollars to pay for the entrance fee (if carpooling from Chase)
  2. At least 2 liters of water.
  3. Snacks
  4. Sunscreen
  5. Camera (optional)

Nice hike, nice day, nice group. The pools were certainly refreshing. I clocked the hike as 5.4 miles with a 1903 foot total climb and about 1050 feet of elevation change. Here is my GPS track of the hike: .

The address of the Chase Bank is 11625 North Oracle Road,
Oro Valley. It is literally across the street from the entrance to Catalina State Park.
