SABINO CANYON MEDITATIVE HIKE - LAST HIKE UNTIL FALL * NOTE DAY & TIME CHANGE *

  • Apr 21, 2013 · 6:15 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

“Find Peace, for a moment.” Sunday evening, Apr. 21st. Meet at 6:15 p.m. by the ramada in front of Sabino Canyon Visitors’ Center. Now, once again, discover that rarest of phenomena, Silence, at road’s end in Sabino, as you lie back, absorbed in darkness/brightness of the night. We ask that people be silent when they get to the top of the road so that all of us can enjoy being with nature in peace and quiet. Conversation is OK at every other point along the way, however, and people enjoy socializing during, as well as after the hike. We also attempt to be without external mind-altering distractions of technology, in order to tune internally to the beauty of the Canyon Cathedral itself. No cell phones, pagers, flash cameras, etc., except for emergencies. Flashlight use on a spot basis, only when unavoidable, or if snakes pay an unexpected visit during our hike. 7.5 mi. Round Trip, all on road. Call Larry at[masked] after 4 p.m. daily or e-mail [masked] for more information, or weather updates day of hike. Free visit from I Cougar.

A perfect evening for the last Meditative Hike, and though a small turnout, I enjoyed the company of Barb and Jill as we did the hike together! So Thanks Larry, have a Safe and Enjoyable Summer!

Great hike with great people. At the top, a beautiful night with tranquility enveloped in moonlight. The I Cougar, however, in a last desperate fling before fall, proceeded to run amuck, entertaining 2 busloads of unsuspecting tourists with random unsolicited attacks. All in all, a perfect mixture of serenity and savagery. Thanks to all who attended.

Sorry for the late cancellation, but I won't be able to make it today. I've got too much work to catch up on (busy times at the job). See you next time!

I really want to do this, but I'm kind of chicken-ing out, this would be my first hike and I'm afraid I bit off more than I could chew, Lawrence any suggestions for an enthusiastic beginner such as myself???

I think you should still try it. It's all paved, with very little elevation, and you can always shorten the hike by turning around and walking back at any time. Not everyone does the whole thing. You might find that it was all easier than you had thought!

Larry, I'm on an overnight MC Ride this weekend to Payson, Pinetop, Salt River Canyon, so I'm not sure I'll be back in time, but I'll try to make it ...
