Oracle Ridge Trail - Wildflower Hike - Raincheck

The hike on the 29th was cancelled at the trailhead due to rain. Let's try again.

We will meet at Le Buzz at 8:00AM for a prompt departure. We will carpool to the trailhead which is around 30 miles.

We will be hiking the Oracle Ridge Trail on Mt Lemmon. I plan on hiking no further than Dan Saddle since we will be taking lots of photos. This trail was badly burned in the 2003 fire so it will be sun exposed most of the way. The temperature should be around 80 but can change quickly this time of year.

Distance Round Trip <5 miles
Trailhead Elevation 7,880 feet
Elevation Gain -1,000 feet
Avg Time Round Trip 2.5 hours
We can decide during the hike if we want to go all the way to Dan Saddle.

I suggest bringing the following:
2+ liters of water
Sunscreen
A hat
Rain jacket
Camera (and Wildflower book)
A snack or lunch
No dogs on this one, please.

As always, you will be hiking at your own risk.

Nice hike out. Can't say the same for the hike back. Long day.

Which hike back, the first or the second? :-)

It's certainly lush up the mountain these days. The downside of that is that the trail is substantially overgrown making for Braille-like descents on the gravelly rock and post-hike itchiness from the long grass. [Incidentally, yes, that was my bad on uploading photos without deleting the watermark from Monday's photo gig].

Sorry - I have to cancel again! There's a meeting I really should go to tomorrow. The hike last year was really great and I was excited to see it offered again. I hope the weather cooperates this time! Looking forward to future hikes -

Hi, Bill. Please forgive me if I cause some problem, but change my mind to take Maureen's reservation . I tried this hike yesterday and I think it might be too hard for my guest to hike back the hill.
I just left Maureen a message to cancel, but I'm afraid her computer is not working. I hope the person on the waiting list can go. I' m sorry.
