Black Friday Hike to the Big Rock on the Phoneline Trail

  • November 29, 2013 · 8:00 AM
  • Sabino Canyon Recreation Area

Let's work off some of those turkey calories with a hike to the Big Rock on the Phoneline Trail.  The entire hike is approximately 5 miles with 600 ft. of elevation gain.  We will hang out at the Big Rock for a while before returning.  I want to soak in the beauty of the canyon before heading back.

Please bring plenty of water, something to eat, and sun protection.

Overflow parking is across the street at the school.

Thanks Don for a great hike even though I hiked all by myself most of the way. Something has come up so I will not join you tomorrow. Give my spot to someone else.

Is this a beginner's or intermediate hike?

The start of the Phoneline is the toughest since it has the most elevation gain. If it does become a problem for you, it is easy to turn around and head back to the Visitor's Center.

Hi, if I get to the main list, I will need a ride. If someone is going to pass by Country Club and Speedway on the way, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Lesli, thanks for being upfront about this, but I have to ask that you leave your firearm at home. Thanks.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
