Friday Night Sabino Stroll

Come join us for our weekly hike and socializing afterward at Risky Business! This is a great hike for new members. We normally walk up the tram road and enjoy the evening views of the canyon. Most folks turn around after 2 miles, but some hardy folks go the entire 7.4 miles to the end of the tram road and back. Everyone walks at a different pace, and so normally we break up into smaller groups as we are walking.  When we get to the 2 mile rock we usually regroup before returning to the visitor center. The group that leaves at 7pm walks a little faster than 2 miles per hour. The group that leaves at 6 walks even faster, nearly 4 miles per hour. Please consider these speeds and your abilities when deciding to join us. If you cannot keep up, be prepared to hike by yourself.

We are hiking in the dark, so please make sure you have a good flashlight. The rattlesnakes are out.

We'll meet at the ramada (covered patio) in front of the Sabino Canyon Visitor's Center at 7 PM, do a quick round of introductions and start hiking shortly thereafter.

Those wishing to walk the entire road should start with the 6:00 PM group if you intend to join the later starters at Risky Business (Kolb/Sunrise).   Please indicate on your RSVP if you will be joining the 6:00PM group.

Stroll at your own risk. Be prepared for possible rain.

If no host is present at the appointed time (+5 Mins), begin the stroll anyway.

See you there!

What a great hike this turned out to be! Just the right temp, no rain, bridges dry, just enough fog to make it a little eerie. Great way to see the Canyon!

Turned out to be a great night in the canyon. Temperature was right and no rain. Bridges were dry. Perfect night.

Only 4 brave soles were in attendance for the 6pm Hike, we ended up hiking to the 3rd mile marker, then turned back to avoid any rain, besides we were cold and hungry.

No water on any of the bridges, yet. And we really lucked out; it didn't even rain while we were there. In your honor, we found a tiny scorpion!

Is this a capped event? I often don't know how I will feel until the day of an event

7 pm - my first hike with the group, too. Parking shouldn't require a pass, no. Might be a fee of around $5 or so, though. It's been quite a while since I went to Sabino.

This time you might need to make sure one of your layers is for rain showers. Watch the weather as the week progresses.
