King Canyon Trailhead
Join me as I once again enjoy the spectacular views of the Sonoran Desert on the way to the summit of Wasson Peak. We will be spending some time at the top for snacks and to enjoy the beauty that will surround us.
We're going to do a loop by going up the Gould Mine Trail, Sendero Esperanza, and finally Hugh Norris to the peak. At the top we will take a break, have snacks, and enjoy the view before heading back down. We'll come back on the King Canyon Trail. Total round trip distance is 8.2 miles (4.3 up, 3.9 down) and Wasson Peak is 1800 feet above the trailhead. Plan on needing five hours to complete this hike.
We'll meet up at the King Canyon Trailhead. Its the dirt lot 300 yards north and across the street from the entrance to the Desert Museum on Kinney Road.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL HIKE: Due to the elevation and distance, this hike is not for beginners or anyone with current physical problems. Only experienced hikers should sign up for this hike.
It's a good idea to try to arrive at least 5 minutes early. If you are running late and the group has already left, please feel free to catch up with us. WE WILL BE LEAVING AT 8:00 am SHARP!
WHAT TO BRING: sunscreen, hat, snacks, 3 liters of water.
Park regulations limit the group size to 18 so please don't show up if you are not signed up.
