Who will like to start early and hike up along the Phoneline Trail to the top of Sabino Tram road to meet up with the Sabino Stroll 6pm group. We have 2 hours to get to Stop #9 so this isn't a stroll but a nice workout to burn calories before that beer at Risky's. Then head down the road to meetup with the 7pm group at the 2 mile marker.

***Revised Information***

Distance: 9.6 miles

Time: About 3 hours, 2 hours to get to Stop #9 and 1+ hours to get back to the Ramada

Elevation Gain: About 1,775ft.

Don't forget to wear durable hiking shoes, bring plenty of water (at least 1.5 liters) and a flashlight.

The Phoneline trail is easy with little elevation gain. But I will be moving at a fast pace but no one will be left behind. We will stop to hang out with or wait for the 6pm Sabino Stroll group. Then enjoy some food and drinks at Risky Business later.

Hope to see you all on the trail.

Look out for more chances to join the Friday Night Phoneline because I'll only post it once a month. All the other times join Bill or Me at 6pm to take that nice short stroll up Sabino Canyon Tram road.

Very nice time. 2 hours should be the expected time to meet at Tram Stop 9. There will be average hikers that can get a great longer hike with the more experienced hikers at this level and enjoy the best sites that Tucson has to offer.

    All,

This is closer to a 750' elevation-gain hike, rather than the 1,775' gain as listed. Unless -- Teri is taking us on the "special" ( wink-wink ) route. C'Ya ALL at the Ramada ! -- Bob

So Bob, I did the Phoneline in 1:36 from the Ramada to Stop #9. According to my Strava app I was going an average of 3.9mph. and took me a total from Ramada and back 2:38 minutes. I want to get to Stop #9 by 7pm. I think if we left maybe 2 hours before giving time for stops or slower hikers we should all meet up about the same time. What do you think? Leave at 5pm or 5:15ish?

Teri, CONGRATS -- That's movin' for trail hiking ! I wouldn't expect all of the hikers to be able to keep that pace. So... I would suggest leaving at 5:00 PM to ensure we ALL make stop 9 by 7:00. If we get there a few minutes early, that's a GOOD thing. -- Bob

I only have 3.5 hrs. to do this before I have to get back to work. So I will be going pretty fast and will be keeping track on time from beginning to Stop #9.

    Terri,

I will be curious to see your time. If you go, would you time from Ramada -- across Phoneline and then down to Tram 9 ?

I "think" I can make about 3 MPH on Phoneline to Tram 9 -- which would be 1:30 minutes. I have done this as a Fast-Paced hike with Paul but... I didn't time it :-(

Last time I did the Tram road -- it took me 57 minutes.

I'll be up on Pontatoc Ridge tomorrow. An "untimed" meditation hike.

Good luck on your SPEEDY Phoenline jaunt ;-) -- Bob

We were moving pretty fast Wed. night...We can do it! I don't mind starting earlier though. I'm going to do Phoneline tomorrow and time myself. We'll see;-)

    Terri,

It is 4.5 miles on the Phoneline to Tram Stop 9. So... yes -- it adds less than a mile -- when compared to the Tram road route. But... you can't make the same time on trail as you can on smooth pavement. Strong / Fast Tram-road "strollers" can make Stop 9 in 55 minutes.

That's 4 Miles per hour for the Tram crew !!!

If you plan on getting to Stop 9 along Phoneline AND starting only 30 minutes before the 6:00 PM Tram crew -- you won't be waiting for them at the top. They will be waiting for you ;-)

Unless == > you can move @ 3.4 miles per hour along trail <==

Yikes -- that's movin' -- C'Ya Friday night for the Phoneline "Run"

    Bob
