Tucson Mountain Park - Golden Gate trail

Continuing my exploration of Tucson Mountain Park, lets check out the Golden Gate trail. This runs from the trail head just west of Gates Pass (G3 on the park trail map) down to a trail head on Kinney Rd (K9 on the same map).

Where: Parking area just west of Gates Pass (G3). Head west on Gates Pass Rd (which is a continuation of Speedway), through the pass. The road is quite twisty! Heading downhill west from the pass you'll see the parking area on the left. Note that there is a larger parking area just east of the pass - ignore it and continue to the next parking area.

When: Monday, November 19th, 8:00am

What: We'll hike south from the trail head on the Golden Gate trail, down to the "K9" trail head on Kinney Rd, then turn around and hike back to the starting point.

Total Distance: About 5 miles
Elevation gain: about 600'

The trail is pretty easy, about 2.5 miles between the trail heads, and it drops about 600' from Gates Pass down to Kinney Rd. We'll hike out and back from Gates Pass for a round trip of about 5 miles.
