Tucson Writers Workshop & Meetup: Socializing + Writing

  • Nov 20, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Do you wish you knew of a place you could go for writing inspiration and practice? A place where you could hang out with other writers? A place where you don't need to make a long-term commitment or spend a lot of money?

Tucson Writers Workshops are that place.

Here's what you'll be given on November 20, 2013:

• An interesting writing prompt from a creative instructor.

• Some time to write.

• A chance to read your work out loud, if you want.

• Information about how to share your writing in other ways.

• A break and a chance to socialize and partake of drinks and snacks.

• A brief presentation on creative writing.

• Practical tips on writing.

• A review of tools for writers.

• Another writing prompt.

• Some more time to write.

• An additional chance to read aloud.

• Then some social time afterwards.

There is no angst, no critiquing, no pressure. Just the freedom to be creative.

This workshop will get your creative juices flowing no matter what type of writing you're into.

It will be like an exercise class for writers. And it will be really fun. There will be fresh coffee and pastries available, and craft brews and wine too! *(Provided by the venue, and you have to pay them for it!)

The Workshop costs $8.
NOTE: You can pay (electronically) when you RSVP for the event.
If you don't have a credit/debit card to make your payment with,
you can make suitable arrangements by contacting
pablo at the3rdparty dot co (not .com but dot .co)

The goal of the Tucson Writers Workshop and Meetup Group is simply to help foster our community of writers here in Tucson, and to help provide continuity to keep us writing on a regular basis. All writing styles and genres are welcomed; fiction, non-fiction, script writing, journalistic, whatever it is that you write.

Thanks for helping us thrive!

Where is this one going to be? I am free on Fridays but not the weekend. Thanks.

I am disappointed I couldn't yet again go to the workshop this week. I will shoot for the next one and hopefully it will all work out.

It was my first time, and I thought the meetup was productive and well organized. I enjoyed all the different people and backgrounds. I will continue to attend.

My first time there. It was great. A lot of good information. I was a little skeptic of the downtown area and parking but, I found it well lighted and just across the street from the meeting. Safe and comfortable. I enjoyed my first meeting and will continue to go.

Thanks for the info on the parking situation. I will come to the next meeting now that I know it's easy to park.

This was great. I will definitely go again. Very informative and I really enjoyed meeting everyone. The parking was great and well lit. The coffee was very good. I had mocha latte with real itialian chocolate. Mmmmmm. I would recommend eating first or bring something though.

    RE: Safety and Parking

Parking is free in a public and well-lit lot right across the street from Maker House, in the Franklin Lot.

    Hello Everyone,

I will miss not attending. But I do not feel the location is appropriate for safety and parking.

    Thank you for the invitation,

    Susan

Hi Susan: In the future, if you'd like... I can arrange to personally escort you to your vehicle. ;P

Sounds like a great opportunity. However, I won't be able to attend this month. Hopefully, next time.

    Thanks.

Sorry, can't make it this Wed, somehow I had the Meetup in my calendar for Thurs and was unable to change my Wed meeting this month. If you are meeting the third Wed of every month, I can rearrange my schedule--I'd like to join in. The venue looks good.

Hi Gayle: So sorry to hear that you can't make it, but there will be many more such events (workshops and meetups etc.) in the future, and I hope to see you next time! ;P

I would love to attend but I don't feel safe parking and walking at the downtown location. I'm a single woman and sorry to again miss this event. Hope you can find a safer location for future meet ups.

    • PABlo

Hi Chandika: We have the same issues with using Gangplank for our venue. So, I hear what you're saying, but I'd like to reassure you in whatever way possible. At the least, we can arrange to accompany you to where you park. ;P
