Play Jazz!

Let's get together and play some music. Here's a list of some tunes we'll be working on:

(none yet - please leave a comment if you have any suggestions!)

It's highly recommended that you bring a copy of The Real Book (Sixth Edition). You're also free to bring any other music (maybe even your own compositions?) you'll want to read through.

We'll be in one of the studios at The Studio. http://thestudio.org/REHERSAL/reherse.html

These studios run anywhere from $38-$66 for all three hours, so please bring a few dollars to help defray the expense.

    Hello again.

Hit Post too soon. There's a typo.
The Studio is at 251 West 30th Street.

Note to Wes: you don't have to pay anything for the last jam.
Note to the drummers: you might want to think about using some percussion if you both want to play on every song. Percussion can be rented at the studio and we can all chip in. It's about $10.
Note to Tom: Don't forget to get those song lyrics. You have to sing the lyrics before you can scat. You may be able to access them online in the studio.

    Hi everyone.
I booked room C for this Saturday from 3 to 6. For new people, that's at The Studio, 231 West 30th Street, between 7th and 8th, on the third floor.
We use The Real Book, edition 6, but if you want to work on songs not in the book, bring in leadsheets for everyone.

Hi everyone. The jam for Saturday May 3 is on. Welcome new members Marc, Raccoon, Tom, and Bryan. Bryan, the study of classical piano won't hurt you in jazz. Lots of jazz pianists started on classical. Tom, we don't need a whistler. But we do welcome good singers. We use The Real Book, edition 6, which unfortunately doesn't have lyrics. Here's a list of some of the songs we've done in recent jams. If you can find the lyrics and bring them you can sing with us: All of Me, All the Things You Are, Autumn Leaves, Call Me Irresponsible, Body and Soul, Darn That Dream, Girl From Ipanema, How High the Moon, God Bless the Child, It Don't Mean a Thing, Misty, My Favorite Things, Satin Doll, Bewitched, and many more.

Afraid I'm back in the UK for a friend's wedding. Looking forward to the mid-May session though. Cheers! Pete
