Cincinnati TV Toastmasters - 1st Thursday

Why wait? Join NOW to experience the benefits effective communication, improved listening / evaluation skills and valuable leadership management experience as a club officer or as a meeting chair will bring to you.

Every club meeting follows a similar format. The meeting is called to order by the President, who introduces the Toastmaster for the meeting. This is a rotating position responsible for chairing the meeting.

The Toastmaster introduces the Word Power/AH Counter for the meeting. The Word Power role presents each speaking with the challenge of using a word they select in their speech and introductions. They select, define and demonstrate the use of the Word of the Day. Many speakers fill dead space with unnecessary words. The AH Counter summarizes these for every speaker at the end of the meeting.

The Toastmaster introduces the Table Topics Master. They pose impromptu questions to club members who are required to speak for a minimum of 1 min and no more than 2.5 minutes. This is a fun part of the meeting because many members get to improve their impromptu speaking skills.

The Toastmaster introduces 3 speakers who deliver prepared speeches. Each speaker must speak from 5 to 7 minutes on a topic of their choice. Most speakers are working on projects from the Toastmasters Competent Communicator or Competent Leadership manuals.

After the completion of the prepared speeches, the Toastmaster introduces the General Evaluator. The General Evaluator is responsible for evaluating the overall meeting and introducing the speech evaluators.

The General Evaluator introduces the Evaluator for each of the prepared speeches. Evaluators provide balanced feedback - telling speakers what went well and providing some ideas for improvement.

After the evaluation of the prepared speeches, the General Evaluator introduces the AH Counter and the Grammarian to tally filler words and assess speakers use of the word of the day.

The General Evaluator introduces the Timer, who provides details on the exact length of every speaker.

The General Evaluator returns control of the meeting to the Toastmaster who provides some closing remarks before turning the meeting over the the Club President.

The Club President asks guests for their opinion on the meeting and closes the meeting.

In addition to roles described, every meeting requires 3 camera persons, a director and a producer. Two new roles have been added for associate director and associate producer to groom new members for these positions.

Multiple times a year the club has contests for humorous speech, impromptu speaking and qualification for the Toastmaster International Speech Contest.

Meeting are well run, fun and exciting.

The Cincinnati TToastmasters Meet Up site is an introduction to the TV Toastmasters Club 9523 meetings where you will the process of learning leadership and communication skills. TV TM meet the 1st Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and the 3rd Saturday at 9:00 a.m. In other words, joining this Meet Up group without attending a TV Toastmasters meeting would be like trying to swim without water. The TV Toastmasters pulled off a great meeting for having a smaller attendance then usual due to half the members' being away on vacations or traveling for work. The speeches and evelations were life changing for building courage, confidence and character.

I'm a member of 5 Toastmasters clubs and if you can't take my word for it, come visit and see for yourself. Carol L. Kormelink

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
