An open mic night can be a chance for any budding comedians in the group to get up on stage and prove this is best left to the professionals. Or maybe it could be your start. Someday I could organizing a meetup to see you. Now there's a reason to get up there. But you don't have to get up on stage to go to open mike night. It's fine to sit back laugh and be glad it's not you. I just saw something at the Joke Joint on Sundays that sounded different. - a mix of amateurs and professionals. It's not going to be as consistently funny as the headliner at Acme, but it could be interesting.
