The poll results to date have given this Group a clear mandate. You said you want to learn all nine types of dances. That's great!
What this means is that if you stick to these free classes for the next while, you will be in a position to dance to most of the music playing at the top two ballroom dance places in Ontario--the Famee Furlane Club in Vaughan and the Westway Club in Etobicoke.
In other words, you won't be sitting watching people flash by you in the various dances and figuring out "heck, I wish I could do that"; YOU WOULD IN FACT BE flowing along with the dancing crowd. Wow, what a wonderful thought!
So, based on the polling, here's what we will be doing at our first class on Saturday, Sept. 10: We will be doing the Slow Waltz (an elegant dance) and the Cha Cha (a sensual dance).
About your instructor: He has taught thousands of couples over the past 10 years and many of these couples have told him how enjoyable and fulfilling they'd felt learning enough to get on the dance floor and strut their stuff alongside the sharks--the more experienced dancers in the Famee and Westway.
Receiving his training in the late 1990s with a former World Jive Champion and two-time North American 10-Dance Champion, he also got instruction from Ballroom dance champions from European countries.
These pro bono classes are part of an effort to give back to the community where he used to live and thrived as both a dancer and a public communications specialist.
Oh, and remember, it's not too late to invite a friend or neighbour or family member as you're allowed one guest.
You also don't need a partner to attend these classes.
Although there is no fee for the classes, there is a $2.00 meetup fee to cover the room rental and website charges.
