La Tomatina Festival 27th to 29th August!!!
La Tomatina is a food fight festival held on the last Wednesday of August each year in the town of Bunol near to Valencia in Spain. Thousands upon thousands of people make their way from all corners of the world to fight in this 'World's Biggest Food Fight' where more than one hundred metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes are thrown in the streets. The week-long festival features music, parades, dancing, and fireworks
- Wear closed shoes that you don’t mind throwing away afterwards. If you wear flip-flops, you may get hurt, or you could lose them easily during the battle
- Wear old clothes, or clothes that you aren’t planning to wear again. They will most likely end up damaged from being ripped or incredibly dirty
- You may find goggles useful. However, it is safer if you just ensure that you always have something clean to wipe your eyes with. The best thing is if you tuck your T-Shirt into your shorts to keep the bottom part of your T-shirt clean and dry
- If you are planning to take pictures, bring a waterproof camera!
- Do not miss the Palojabón – a soap-covered pole with a Spanish ham at the top: whoever can climb the pole and get the ham can keep it!
- Stay safe and enjoy the festivities as much possible
The payments are non-refundable. We only offer a refund if the trip has been cancelled or rescheduled.
If members are unable to attend they should advertise/sell their places (to another members) on the message board for the specific event or contact those on the "Waiting List".

Day 2 - Wednesday 28 August 2013
The Big Day - La Tomatina 2013
After an early breakfast, we transfer by coach to Bunol journey time approx 1 hour. The Tomatina festival commences around 11am, following the desperate attempts of the human ladders to grab a large ham at the top of a greased pole in the centre of town.
Your experienced crew will be on hand to ensure you get right into the heart of the action and get the most of this short but wild and crazy event. Remember: "Go past the ham ..."
Several dump trucks full of tomatoes are emptied into the main, very narrow street of the town and then the fun really begins with the locals and other travellers covering each other in tomatoes. After approximately one hour and gun blast signals the end of the fight and everyone goes for a welcome shower (if they can find one) and joins in the fiesta.
We depart Bunol mid afternoon returning to our hotels in Valencia for another much needed wash and rest.
Tonight there is a chance to head into the fabulous old town of Valencia. We also offer transfers and admission to the official La Tomatina after party until 8pm. This is nearly as big as the event itself, with over 3000 people attending this great outdoor event.
Please note: During La Tomatina 2013 it is recommended that girls wear tight fitting sports bra and/or singlet and shorts, along with footwear such as sandals or trainers/runners. Guys generally wear old cheap shorts, T-shirt and shoes only. All passengers take a change of clothes to Bunol and plan on throwing out everything you wear to the tomato fight.
