Knole Deer Park to Ightam Mote, Kent (14.5km) Hike - Sat 7th Sept - £5

Come rain or shine this really is one of the most beautiful and varied walks you can do so close to London!

*** Click here for pics from our 2012 hike here ***

The route takes us through the stunning Knole House deer park which offers some fantastic photo opportunities of the semi wild deer in wonderful surroundings.

We'll make our way past woods, brooks, ponds & orchards before reaching Ightham Mote, a delightful 14th Century moated manor house. Here we'll stop around 12pm for an hour's lunch break. There is a restaurant offering Soups, hot & cold food/drinks. There is plenty of room to sit around outside, under cover & some nice gardens to explore for those that wish.

Setting off again around 1pm, the route back is quite different, taking a high route it involves some hills, winding higher through woods & with spectacular views over the Kent countryside.

Depending on our time and progress, we'll stop off in the tea rooms in the grounds of Knole House for a well deserved tea and cake if possible .

We'll arrive back in Sevenoaks around 4pm for some final refreshment before catching a return train to London.

hi there, I am interested in finding some wildlife buddies who love nature and aren't easily put off by difficult conditions. At present my concern is to preserve our badger population and thought some of you guys might be interested in helping. The work is VERY HARD - sitting out all night on a piece of ground to save a family of badgers. Not every one is up for that I know. But it would be a wonderful thing for us to do as a group. What do you think?

Hi Susan, i'm sure there are lots of uDarers that would like to give something back to nature & i would love to put a few of these type of activities up as events, obviously within parameters that are useful for the work involved. Perhaps you can email me with some more details at [masked] and we can get something going! ;-)

Hi, my friend and I would like to come to the hike, but she doesn't have internet at the moment so she cannot join the group, so would it be ok for me to pay £10 for the both of us so that she can come this Saturday?
