Ubiquitous Media is the messy collision of ubiquitous computing, augmented reality, physical computing, personal sensing, transmedia and urban systems. It's like that old parable of the blind monks trying to describe an elephant; the parts all feel very weird and different, and we're trying to catch a glimpse of the future in its entirety. We are an open network of geeks, artists, experience designers, social scientists and other fellow travelers interested in answering the question "If the world is our platform, then what is our creative medium?" No experience necessary, other than genuine interest, positive attitude and beginner's mind.
You might have noticed that we're called a studio. That means we get excited about doing creative projects, not just talking about them. It means we are into learning how to use new tools, and sharing our knowledge with each other. It means we are all hipsters in black turtlenecks sipping absinthe and objectifying culturally constructed signifiers. Um, that last one not so much. But definitely the learning and doing parts! So if you're into dreaming up cool ubi-projects and doing them, and learning new tools to create with, you should join up.
