DALLAS UKULELE HEADQUARTERS
2014 CONCERT SERIES
Jessica Leigh Graves, member of the musical trio, The Love Leighs, will be giving a Ukulele Workshop. Beginners, intermediate, and even advanced players will all get something out of this workshop.
Woody Guthrie famously said, "Anything more than three chords is just showing off." It turns out, you can show off with just three chords, too. You just need the right tools to squeeze the juice out of a simple tune.
Jessica will take a three-chord song and run it through several variations, exploring different possibilities with different keys, dressing it up with alternate chord positions, taking it from the simple to the jazzy, along with some right-hand strumming techniques and patterns to polish it off.

About the Artist:
Jessica Leigh Graves played clarinet in school, guitar at home, and eventually found a ukulele in a closet, dusted it off, strung it, and converted zealously to the Cult of Uke. In 1999, she was one of the founding members of Shorty Long, a ukulele-based novelty jazz band, along with former Asylum Street Spankers Pops Bayless and Mysterious John, and Aunt Ruby’s Sweet Jazz Baby bassist Ryan Gould.
Jessica has been playing ukulele for 12 years. Her work has been lauded by Ukulele Player Magazine, and the world’s top ukulele web mecca, UkuleleHunt.com, who in addition to naming her album Jammin’ at Jackson’s one of the “Essential Ukulele Records of the 2000s“, also declared her former band, Shorty Long, to be “ukulele heroes.”
IMPORTANT NOTE: We are not pre-paying for tickets for this event: All funds collected will be collected at the door. Because of this, it is VERY important that your RSVP to this event be accurate.
Bring some extra cash - Artist CD's will be available for purchase and The Love Leigh's will be autographing for you as well.
All funds collected will go to the artists. If you would like to contribute an additional amount to go to the artists, please contact Mark or Kathy Levine ahead of time.
We look forward to seeing you at this outstanding event, the first in the 2014 Dallas Ukulele Concert Series!
And remember: Without "U", it's just Kulele!
