What better way to shake off the effects of Tryptophan (too much turkey!) then a ukulele workshop with the master himself, Pops Bayless?
Pops will be teaching a complete “Performance 101” workshop, which will help newcomers overcome stage fright and step up to the mike, and provide tips for seasoned pros.
Note: This will be a GREAT workshop for people who have attended the Absolute Beginner’s Workshop, or the Beginner’s Jam Sessions. (It’s also a great workshop for experienced players, too.)
The workshop will touch on the following critical elements:
• Equipment - Instruments and peripheral gear.
• Environment - The physical place / space you are performing in and its attributes.
• Mental - Mnemonics, Confidence Building, Stage Fright Abatement
• Material - The “Goods”. Songs and patter. Know Thy Material!
• Presentation - The way you serve up The “Goods”.
The workshop will be held at Midway Point Restaurant. Order yourself an adult beverage of your choice to enjoy while you learn, and a full menu of great food that ISN’T turkey for you to dine on.
Midway Point -- 12801 Midway Road Dallas, TX 75244

As many of you know, Pops goes back to the very early days of Dallas Ukulele Headquarters, when he used to drive up from Austin to provide tips and lessons back when the club met at Half Price Books, and hosted workshops for us down in Austin.
Pops is a major figure in the Texas ukulele scene, and a frequent participant in the San Antonio Ukulele Festival, and the Lone Star Ukulele Festival here in Dallas.
From ReverbNation: “Pops Bayless brings over three decades of performing experience to the stage. He is an original member of The Asylum Street Spankers and the founder of the Shorty Long Band. His Off-Broadway musical comedy review, AMERICAN NOVELTY, premiered at the Theatre for the New City in Manhattan, NYC, April of 2006. Pops' original music can be heard in various film and television projects including MTV's AUSTIN STORIES and the film NO VACANCY. As an accomplished teacher, Pops has presented a myriad of uke-based workshops at different schools and fests across the country including the Augusta Heritage Center, Blue Stone Folk School, Midwest Ukulele Festival, Ukulele Expo, Hill Country Acoustic Music Camp and the Lone Star Uke Fest.”
