We've got a number of cool things going on in the pretty near future. First, I'd like to mention that we had something like 35-40 people show up to play on Saturday. We split into three games for a while. It was awesome. And someone (Satya) didn't even make it out (Satya) to play (Satya) frisbee (Satya). Hurray weather. I remember last year on someone's birthday, where he showed up (Satya) to play (Satya) and it was like, a little colder than it was (Satya) this past Saturday, but still reasonable (Satya). And he just spectated. We (Satya) threw a disc or two at him but he wouldn't (Satya) play. Or I'm totally misremembering, but I doubt it. Anyway...:
1/13 - Friday - Barn Ultimate at Jamie's (& likely other party-related activities). Now with less Silly String! It'll likely be 5-on-5 or 6-on-6 with some sort of rotation scheme (this can be tricky to do...can everyone bring a white shirt, a black shirt, AND a non-white-non-black shirt). Bringing some food or drink would be appreciated by everyone, I think. I'd advise against layingo ut.
1/14 - Saturday
- Our regular game
at 10 AM. This will be followed by a housewarming party at Sharon's
from 2 PM - 11 PMish. Her place is downtownish. Message/Text her (540 -[masked]) or me for the address. Additionally, Jim's band will be playing that day
, details here I think - https://www.facebook.com/events/354767911207489/
- So that's something that we might check out.
1/14 through 3/3 - Saturday nights 7:30 - 9:30 PM
- Indoor Ultimate in Naperville!
Remember when I talked about the Thursday night Carol Stream game indoors a couple times? Forget all about that. Here are the details from the organizer. I know I'm about two weeks late on this, it was somewhat intentional. We are playing at Players Indoor Sports Center in Naperville (http://www.playersindoor.com/), Saturday nights, 7:30-9:30pm, for 9 weeks from January 7 - March 3, 2012 at a cost of $10/person/week. Nice indoor soccer field surface and you can play the disc off the glass. No cleats allowed. Indoor soccer shoes, running/tennis shoes work well. Temperature-controlled, no wind, work on your around-the-glass rollers. If you know you are going to be there pretty much every week, and want to help support Chicagoland ultimate, then please consider pre-paying for the entire season at the first night. Pre-paying helps to reduce a potential facilities cost shortfall and is greatly appreciated. At the end of the season, all proceeds after facilities cost go to Ultimate Chicago. Tell your friends! Hope to see you there!
If it's similar to the fields they play winter league on, then it's probably pretty worthwhile if you're able to make it out.
1/15 - Sunday - Standard ultimate, noon.
I think that about covers it.
See you on the field,
