4th of July Cookout - Vince's Bday Party - Games to Spectate

From: Casimir

Hey everyone,

Couple events coming up:

A) 4th of July we'll be doing our standard cookout / ultimate event. Bring something to share, or $5, and show up at the Higgins entrance to Busse woods. We'll be starting at 10 AM, grills are usually going around noon, and people are typically there until 4-5 PM. Show up for an hour or six, whatever your schedule allows. RSVP here to see what some other folks are bringing -

Quick reminder that (most?) fireworks are illegal in Illinois, so don't bring anything like that to the cookout. Also, please avoid glass bottles for your beverage choices. Haven't really been a problem in the past, but let's keep things safe and reasonably-forest-preserve-regulation-compliant.

B) Vince is going to be turning the hilarious age of 69 on August 12th. Since that's a Monday, we'll wind up celebrating this momentous occasion on Saturday, August 10th. A lot of things are still in the works, but based on what I know so far, it will definitely be a memorable night. RSVP here to be guaranteed party favors -

C) If you want to see some high-level ultimate play, this Sunday (July 7th) there will be an exhibition game between Machine (Chicago's top-level mens' team) and NexGen (a bunch of college all-stars). My memory is hazy, but I recall the game 2 years ago being pretty good, and the game last year sort of sucking. In any case, you can show up at Lane Tech Stadium for a 6 PM game time, $12 at the door, $8 in advance. I assume you can get tickets somehow through one of these two links:

D) Although I mentioned no well water at this new location, some clever folks have found that the restrooms have sinks with what seems to be reasonably fresh water (looked much clearer than the well water, actually). In case you find yourself parched, that could be a good option.

See you on the field,
