Announcing our first meetup for Unearth Ruby!
What: Ruby Koans: Learn Ruby through tests
When: Sunday, October 10, 2010 12:00 PM
Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
Since it's the first meetup, we will spend a little time talking about the short & long terms goals of the meetup. After that, we will be working through Ruby Koans together. This will allow people to get familiar with tests in Ruby while learning the constructs of the language.
You will be pairing with another person. Pair programming is a popular practice in the Agile community where two developers work on a particular piece of code together with one driving and the other actively participating in the process. Since most rubyists are practioners of Agile Development, they are usually open if not enthusiastic about pair programming at least some of the time.
Since we are going to be learning by doing, you need to bring a laptop with you. We will be looking for a location where there is wifi but if you have a myfi, it doesn't hurt to bring that. Additional keyboards & mice, while not necessary, can make the process easier. Plan on being there for at least a couple of hours if not more.
