Christmas Ships from the St John's Bridge

Join us for a unique experience as we watch the Christmas ships float under the St. John's bridge and learn a little Portland history. We'll begin our evening with a walking tour of the quaint little downtown St. John's. We'll then head to Cathedral Park to see very clearly where it got its name. From there, we'll head on up to the bridge to watch the arrival of the ships.

We will keep an easy pace, but there is a big hill down to the park that we have to climb back up. It will all be on paved streets, however, and there are no stair workouts!

Distance: 3 miles
Difficulty: Moderate (due to hill)
Duration: 1.5 hours

We will finish at the McMenamins St. John's pub, a significant building in Portland, where we can grab a bite if you like.

Bring raingear if it rains. Leashed dogs welcome.

All events start promptly at time indicated.

Please contact me if you are running late or are unable to join us. [masked]

Cost: $10

Exciting walk to the east tower on the deck of the bridge to wait about 1/2 hour for the highly touted and brightly colored boats to arrive. Worth the wait. Good viewing and great company!

Had fun watching the ships and lots of great conversation tonight. Eric is a fount of interesting information about the area and I appreciated more about St Johns than I would have gotten if I had wandered through the town on my own! Thanks, Eric and everyone, for an enjoyable evening!

Hello folks, Weather looks to be favorable for a walk and Christmas Ship viewing tonight! This is my favorite Portland bridge and, as always, there is a story here. Please let me know if you are running late or not able to join us. Thanks!

What time will the ships be arriving, approximately? I will probably want to meet you at the bridge.

Some of you may know that I go breathless gazing at the "cathedral-like" St John's Bridge. Also, lots of great history in and around the little urban enclave of St John' what a great way to view Christmas ships! Do join us for this special once a year event!
