Unity Shader Develoment Talk (by Muse Games Technical Director) Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 @ 7:00pm
NYU Poly Game Innovation Lab, 5 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Alex Jarocha-Ernst of Muse Games will present a technical introduction to using shaders in 3D games. It will cover concrete examples of basic transform and lighting, modified lighting models, and postprocess effects, as well as some discussion of how to keep your shaders maintainable and performant. The talk will focus on the Unity 3D game engine, but much of it is applicable to any 3D environment that supports programmable shaders in Cg, HLSL, or GLSL.
Alex is the lead developer on the upcoming title Guns of Icarus Online, where he splits time between fancy rendering effects and scalable realtime game networking. His past work with Muse Games include CreaVures and the original Guns of Icarus.
