We are going to be hiking at Devil's Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee. There are two relatively short hikes here totaling 3.5 miles, one of which borders the lake. I thought we could have a picnic lunch after we finish these two short hikes and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. Our next stop will be Oconee Station State Historic Site where we will do the short loop trail around the lake and take the spur trail off to Station Cove Falls. This is a 3 mile easy hike. There are two historic structures at Oconee Station which are open to the public on Sunday afternoon for tours for those who would like to see them and if we have time. Travel time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Fee: $2.00 per person at Devil's Fort State Park
Suggested Gratuity: $5.00 per person (for vehicle gas)

ALWAYS BRING WATER AND SOMETHING TO EAT.

Everyone meet in the back parking area of Ryan's Family Steak House 6124 White Horse Rd. at 8:45 am to arrange vehicles. We'll leave at 9:00 am.

Thanks again Caroline! The pix look great altho that one of me looks like I'm either in pain or am pondering some huge philosophical truth! :) Too bad I couldn't stick it out for the afternoon - the pix look like you all had a lot of fun - I'll have to do that one soon.

Thanks to all who came and shared their day with us. The weather could not have been more beautiful. No thunder showers and not a drop of rain. The Devils Fork hikes were fine, second hike more scenic than the first. Station Cove Falls at Oconee Station was a nice hike in and was a cool place to put your head under the falls to cool off on a hot day.

    •  Was a great little hike then a communal lunch and then a great afternoon at the falls.
    •  2 short hikes with a picnic in the middle..super!
    •  very friendly group. hike was easy up & down. couldn't access the lake from trail, though, due to extremely low water. enjoyed the views through the trees. leader, Caroline, brought wonderful picnic! would definitely go with her again.
