[b]Somewhere between 7 & 10 miles is as close as I can estimate from the trail books & websites

Description : A nice fall hike down the Chattooga River valley catching both King Creek Falls and Big Bend Falls

This should be roughly a 7 mile hike point to point that is rated easy to moderate. We will be hiking down river as that is usually an easier way.

This hike will be at a leisurely pace, in and out before the setting sun.

OR

Big Bend Falls

Description: Big Bend Falls is an abrupt, roaring 30-foot drop on the Chattooga River only accessed by a demanding hike along the Chattooga Trail. Its energy is infectious though, so you’ll quickly spring back to life after the two-hour trek and your first glimpse of the largest drop on this Wild and Scenic River.

Height: Cascades 15 feet at a 30-degree slope, then makes 15-foot vertical drop.

Length of hike: 3.4 miles on Chattooga Trail

Time to hike: 2 hours

Difficulty: Strenuous

One is from the guide book and one is from the State of SC, will update this before the hike so you can plan exactly.

Seneca round trip 58 miles * .08 = 4.64 gas expense
Greenville round trip 130 miles * .08 10.40 gas expense
All mileages are estimates from maps.yahoo.com

We hope to leave the Walmart parking area at 9:30 am so that we can be hiking by 10:30
allowing us to be out of the woods before 5:30 pm.

Hike will be at Bill, Janice & Mike speeds, as I wheeze my down the valley up the Mountain. I am probably the slowest of the bunch.

ALWAYS BRING WATER AND SOMETHING TO EAT. You still need Bug Repellent at this time of year too

Everyone meet in Walmart parking area behind Zaxby's 1636 Sandifer Blvd
Seneca, SC 29678 We'll leave at 9:30 am.

Car pool from Greenville: Ryan's 6124 White Horse Rd Greenville, SC 29611 at 8:15 and we'll leave at 8:30.

No Dogs are allowed on our Hikes !

Was a great hike, no yellow jackets, Patti made it through the hike, and for the 2nd week in a row Mike got parking to the parking area in the back of a truck. Now if the hike leader could just get the mileages and timing down better, it would be great. I am starting to get an idea for a 3 hike day that will take us to each of our favorite Ice Cream places

Hi Bill. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have had a "thing" come up for tomorrow and I can't make it. I'm not sure why the fate conspire against my doing anything with you guys. Have fun!

The Hike is from Kings Creek Falls to Big Bend Falls. I found two differing descriptions of the hike & distances invovled. Therefore I posted both of them, to give everyone enough information to make an informed decision. I had planned to hike the exact trail this week, but was unable to do so to overriding work concerns

I see that two hikes are listed. Does this mean that we split into two groups in Seneca based on the hike we want to do, or do we vote on the hike we like best and then go as one group? Thanks!
