The Downtown Hikes Series is a series of hikes that cover a variety of topics (art, buildings, churches, gardens, etc) and are intended to introduce you to a Greenville you may not know and make walking fun in the process! Keep an eye on the calendar for more hikes to follow! Event description is below.

Leave at 9:30 a.m. sharp.

Difficulty: Moderate

Mileage: About 5 Miles

Required: Whistle, water

Paid up members will be given preference on this hike. If you have not paid your dues yet, you could potentially be bumped from this hike to make room for a paid member. Please keep this in mind when you RSVP. Thank you.

RSVPS: Please change your RSVP as soon as you know you can't make it. Failure to do so means someone else might not be able to hike. Thanks!

Hike organizers can: Remove you from a hike if you sign up for a hike beyond your capability. If you have any doubt at all that you or your guest can't physically handle this hike, please email me (don't post on the hike page) and check with me about this.

Dogs allowed: No

Children under 14: You must check with the hike leader before you sign up with your child please. We need to assess their capabilities.

Hike description: We are going to be doing an outside tour of the local entertainment venues, education sites (present and former), and museums in downtown Greenville. After the hike, for those who want to stay, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant to be determined. We do plan to stop and visit the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum for a visit down by the ballpark. They are only open on Saturdays from 10-2. There is no fee but a donation to the museum would be accepted. We may stop in one of the other museums for a few minutes to be determined.

Hike Fee: None

Caroline, always interesting. Thanks for sharing your love of local history. I learned some things about our fair city. I will post a few photos in a day or two once I get back to my office computer. See you on the trail.
