Section Hike AT in SE VA

This is a shuttle hike. The trail is rated as easy- moderate.

I have arranged shuttle transportation. Or if you're willing to drive also, we can leave a car at each end.

The plan...think I'm going to do it from South to North but can do either way.Hiking approx. 13 miles a day. There is some leeway.

The hike the first day is under 3 miles. A chance to stretch the legs and get ready for the adventure. 1st night at Pickle Branch Shelter2nd @ Catawba Mountain Shelter, 3rd at Lamberts Meadow Shelter, 4th Fullhart knob Shelter 5th night..Bobblets Gap Shelter     6th Night Bryant Ridge7th night Harrison Ground Last night at Matt's Creek Shelter

There are no bear cables so make sure you bring rope for bear bags. It is not required that you stay in a shelter during this section, in fact I would prefer we didn't. Be prepared.

Some of the trail highlights:- Wind Rock-Kelly Knob-opportunity to hike through cow pastures-Dragons Tooth-McAfee Knob (most photographed site on the AT)-Tinker Cliffs-James River (longest foot only bridge on the AT)

It's not that easy. It's very rocky.

Pretty section. Weather permitting, stay at Lamberts Meadow vs the shelter.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
